Do you want to work for a fast-paced technology company where no two days are the same?  Do you enjoy chasing down bugs until they are fully resolved?  Maybe you’ve got a passion for designing a new electronics product that will change the world?  Here at Delta V Technologies, we’re passionate about our employees as much as we are our customers.

We are currently hiring for the following position(s):

Systems Administrator / Applications Development

Salary: £16000 – £20000 per year (depending on experience and ability)
Position type: Part-time (3 days/week), possible expansion to full time.
Employment type: Employee only (Contract working is not available)
Employment duration: 12 month minimum.

To be a successful candidate for this role, you must be able to show a willingness to learn, show initiative and the ability to think on your feet.  As many of our client projects are in Python, knowledge of Python is a necessity.  Some Django experience would be of significant benefit to applicants.  Applicants with experience of Puppet, Ansible or other configuration management platforms are likely to be preferred.

A successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering on client projects (primarily Python).
  • Fielding support requests from clients and resolving them or directing them to the correct person
  • Maintaining and supporting internal systems and platforms.
  • Developing new projects as the company requires them.

You will be based from home, meeting with the rest of the team approximately once a week.  These meetings will be in Southampton.  You will need to be prepared to be on-call during evenings and/or weekends infrequently to cover for other staff.

The interview process for this role will initially require you to complete an online assessment of approximately 2-3 hours in duration.  This process will extensively test you under conditions we have experienced in the field and you should not feel disappointed if you are unable to complete a task – it is designed to challenge you.  In order to complete this phase of the interview process, you will require a Secure Shell (SSH) client and a public/private key pair.  The second stage will take place as a formal face-to-face interview in Southampton.  In exceptional circumstances we will be able to complete the second stage over the telephone.

We are happy to take graduates in Computer Science and related disciplines.  As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome candidates from all backgrounds and assessment will be made based on their ability at the task.
